| Copy Games | Certain DVD Burning Programs have the functionality to copy video games for use on players such as PS2 or XBOX. |
| User Steps to Burn DVD | This refers to the number of steps a user will have to perform to complete the DVD burning process. Some DVD Burning Programs allow the user to complete this in one step. Others will require multiple steps such as saving the data to a hard drive before burning. |
| Compression | If your DVD Burning Software does not support Dual Layer copying, or if you are recording onto a 5GB blank DVD disc, the software will use compression to fit the entire movie on the disc. Although this works well, some quality is lost. It's recommended that you omit bonus scenes to reduce the amount of compression needed. |
| Custom Compression | When burning a DVD, the data must be "compressed" to fit onto one disc (unless using [pop]188:450:Dual Layer media[/pop]). The larger the compression, the lower the quality of video. Most DVD burning programs automatically select the necessary compression. Although this is a very useful function, some users may want to customize the compression settings to optimize video copy quality. Programs with Custom Compression settings allow the user to select the desired compression. |
| Overrides Copy Protection (CSS) | Most of today's DVD's are encrypted with a Content Scrambling System (CSS) to avoid duplication. Be sure the software you purchase has the ability to override this encryption. While some DVD burning programs have this built in, others will provide a link to download a separate program which the software uses to process the decryption. We recommend programs that link to decryption programs since those that have it built in are subject to legal issues. |
| CPRx Technology | This copy protection removal technology allows the software to copy virtually every movie in circulation today. Most of the latest movie releases attempt to prevent copying by creating bad sectors or bad DVD structure which will cause the burning process to fail. CPRx error correction technology corrects the error allowing for a flawless copy. In addition, it makes sure the burned DVD will play properly on your home DVD Player. This technology is exclusive to 1CLICK DVD COPY and 1CLICK DVD COPY PRO. |
| ARccOS Copy Protection | Another type of copy protection that attempts to eliminate the ability to copy a DVD by creating bad sectors on a disc. CPRx technology (by 1CLICK) eliminates this issue allowing you to copy even the latest movie releases. |
| Burns Entire Move on 1 Disc | There are two types of storage size on DVD media. Dual Layer (DVD9) stands for 9GB of data. Standard DVD media (DVD5) has 5GB of data. Today's movies are recorded on DVD9 discs. If your DVD Burner and Software support Dual Layer DVD9 copying, you can fit an entire movie on a single 9GB disc without using compression. If you are copying onto standard DVD5 discs some software will use compression to fit an entire movie on a single disc. Otherwise, the movie will have to be burned onto 2 discs (unless the source disc is DVD5). |
| Burns a DVD even if it's scratched | As you probably know, sometimes DVD's and CD's get scratched. Certain DVD Burning Programs are able to restore that portion of the disc during duplication. |
| Omit or Retain Bonus Material | Many of today's DVDs contain bonus scenes such as commentary, deleted scenes, alternate endings, etc. Some DVD Burning Programs allow the user to either omit or include these bonus scenes. |
| Supports Episodic DVD's | Sometimes you may want to copy DVDs containing a season of certain television programs such as 24 ,The Simpsons or The Sopranos. These DVDs contain episodes, so having DVD Burning Software with Episodic Support capability will allow you to copy individual episodes. |
